This is me, only I don't have the good fortune of staying in bed.
Remember that flu shot I got? Well they asked me if I was sick. I said no.
I was not feeling well the week before but that week I was back to normal....or so I thought.
I have now had this creeping crud for a week. Same thing I had that I thought went away.
It built slowly. I tried to ignore it. But I am now down for the count.
They say the flu affects your body and I don't have body aches except my neck.
From my neck up I feel like shit.
It's a huge head cold, very sore throat, eyes hurt, burn & running, nose stuffed yet running with a cough and sneezing. Who does coughing AND sneezing?
What the hell is that about? I have no energy at all.
Okay that is a lie. I get a bit of energy in spurts.
I feel ok for a little bit so I begin to do things and after 10 minutes (tops) I am zapped of all my energy and must lie down. Pathetic.
I have so much work to do and I am doing none of it. I am barely alive and working.
Just had a contractor tell me that I sounded awful and should go home and crawl into bed.
I said, "well if I had done that who would have helped you today?"
He laughed and said, "Okay I'm glad you didn't but I'm done now so you have my permission to go to bed until I need you again tomorrow."
That made me laugh.
Can I get a morphine drip for this?
Medical Marijuana?
A hot toddy to soothe my throat?
I really need Rick's homemade chicken soup.
I'm freezing, then I'm sweating. My teeth even hurt.
I think Rick is getting this too damn it.
It's like Influenza Hotel here.
And I have not gone to the gym since Monday.
I suck.
I even canceled my hair appointment I had after work.
You know for certain I'm sick when I do that!!
In the mean time if you see me - stay on the other side of the street for your health!

I never once fed into the whole "the shot gives you the flu" nonsense. But. We were ALL well this year, got the shot before flu season really got going, but each of us came down with it the month following the shot. I know it's said to take 2 weeks to get into your system, but I also know that 2+ weeks before the shot we were fine but 2+ weeks after, we weren't. With the amount of people I know who have had the flu this year who also got the shot, it makes me believe we're all getting a strain not protected by the current vaccine.
Arnebya -But I don't think this is the flu.I was told the symptoms of the flu would be body aches etc. So who the hell knows. I just feel like crap. "crap" is a medical term in case you were unaware. :-)

If you haven't tried Mucinex....get it! I swear it cures everything. My doctor even said to get it, when I called with a raw and burning throat months ago. I said, "I don't have phlegm, it's just raw." She said, yeah, just try it, anyway! I did, and it worked in two days! I now take one every night before bed, just to keep all the crap away! I've felt great since! PLUS, I take a Tylenol Arthritis formula every night, and I wake up without any aches or pains at all! Seriously, Peg.....try these! And I really hope you feel better soon! :o)

I have mucinex....not working.
I don't wake up with aches and pains normally or have arthritis but good to know. I'm sure the way I'm falling apart it's just a matter of time though. :-)

On the news last night they said there was a different strain of the flu going around that the flu shot didn't cover. About 10% of the people will get it.
My diagnosis is severe menopausal sinus crudol with innocuous tooth pain.

Dr. Tia (Cottage) - great medical diagnosis. Now what the hell is the cure? Wine? Getting my roots done? tell me I'll do anything.
Guess you'll never really know if the shot caused it, or not. I'm still not taking any chances. I have adverse reactions to everything.

I've never had the flu shot either. My son got one and two days later he was sick as a dog for a week. We all laugh about it. He didn't ;o)
My oldest has to get it every year because the military makes him. He says the shots aren't bad, but the nose sprays are awful in that you taste 'rotten eggs' for a few days. I think I'd rather have the flu....
Sorry you're under the weather. Agnes is really sick, too ... she's been down for maintenance all week and sounds like an ad for death. Hope you're better soon.
